One of my favorite things about going on vacation is that I often end up stargazing once the sun goes down. I like testing myself on which planet is which, based on my knowledge of where everything is in the chart that day. Back in June I got to see Mercury for the first time in my life and it was so meaningful to me as a heavily Mercurial person.
Last week I was staying on the Oregon coast and got to hang out with a lovely evening star Venus every night. I’m not a huge fixed star astrologer (yet) but I was so proud of myself for correctly guessing that the orangey-red star a couple signs behind Venus was Antares, the heart of the scorpion. It was pretty special to get to commune with (most of) the constellation of Scorpio for four nights in a row. I also inadvertently learned that the camera in my new iPhone is kind of stunning when it comes to capturing night sky shots. When I got home, with the help of Stellarium, I was able to map all the visible stars in the constellation onto this shot and I love it so much.
